Jasprit Bumrah available for Asia Cup 2025 selection

According to recent reports, Jasprit Bumrah has informed selectors of his readiness to play in the upcoming Asia Cup. The fast bowler was rested for the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy to manage his workload.

He is understood to have spoken to the selectors earlier this week. A BCCI source told the publication:

"Bumrah has informed the selectors that he will be available for Asia Cup selection. The selection committee will meet and discuss it when they meet next week."

Ajit Agarkar-led panel to finalise India's Asia Cup squad

The senior selection committee - chaired by Ajit Agarkar, is scheduled to meet on August 19 in Mumbai to name a 15-member squad. Bumrah's inclusion would be a major boost - especially as the shorter T20I spells are expected to ease the strain on his body.

The pacer had a demanding Test series in England - taking two five-wicket hauls across 119.4 overs. His last T20I match was in the 2024 T20 World Cup final where he bowled a decisive spell to help India lift the trophy.

India's preparation plan for UAE conditions

Reports indicate that the Indian team will travel to the UAE a few days ahead of the Asia Cup rather than hold a preparatory camp in Bengaluru. The management believes acclimatising to local conditions early will offer players more effective practice before the tournament gets underway.

With Bumrah fit and available, India's bowling attack could be at full strength as they eye another title on the road to the World Cup.
