Kishan has donned the Indian blues on several occasions but has he been a part of India's Test setup?
When did Ishan Kishan last play Test cricket for India?
Ishan Kishan has played Test Cricket for India. The keeper-batter from Jharkhand made his Test debut in 2023, when he played against the West Indies in an away series.
That was his first and last series in Tests for India. Kishan played two games in the Caribbean, scoring 78 runs, including a half-century.
He has also been a part of the Jharkhand red-ball side for a long time and has even captained the side on multiple occasions. Kishan has featured in 60 first-class games for his state, scoring more than 3000 runs at an average of nearly forty.
Ishan Kishan's first-class record:
Format | Matches | Innings | Runs | Average | Highest score | 50s | 100s |
First-Class | 60 | 100 | 3611 | 38.82 | 273 | 19 | 8 |
The dynamic batter also recently featured in England's County Championship while plying his trade for Nottinghamshire. In his two games with the Notts, Kishan finished with 164 runs in two innings, including two brilliant half-centuries.
Will Ishan Kishan be added to India's Test squad as Rishabh Pant's replacement?
The Jharkhand batter's name has now resurfaced for his inclusion in India's Test setup for the fifth India vs England Test after Rishabh Pant suffered a fractured toe while batting on Day 1 at Manchester. The left-hander reportedly is the front-runner to replace Pant in the squad.
Ishan Kishan is not completely fit at this point. Remains to be seen whether India brings a replacement, reports @rohitjuglan https://t.co/VBQcoa56rl

However, his inclusion in the XI for the fifth Test is dicey over certain fitness concerns. While he might be added to the squad as a reserve wicket-keeper, the Indian management is likely to go ahead with Dhruv Jurel for the Oval Test.
Meanwhile, India, being put into bat under tough conditions, ended Day 1 on 264 for 4, with Jadeja and Shardul remaining unbeaten at Stumps.
