11:15 pm: That’s all from this thriller. See you in the next Test. Bye for now!

11:10 pm: England thrashed India by five wickets to go 1-0 up in the five-Test series! Bazball was in full flow as Root and debutant Jamie Smith saw them home in style, crushing India’s hopes on the final day. After letting strong positions slip twice, India were punished by a ruthless English finish.

10:25 pm: England are edging closer to victory, with Root anchoring the chase and Jamie Smith settling in well. After two quick wickets by Shardul, Stokes counterattacked with a brisk knock to avoid any hiccups for England. Though he fell, Root and Smith have kept England on track at 324-5 after 74 overs.

8:34 pm: India have managed to come back into the game with three wickets in quick succession. Duckett played brilliantly for his 149 before falling to Shardul Thakur. Harry Brook became the latest one to return to the dugout after chasing an outside-leg stump delivery off Thakur. Joe Root and Ben Stokes will look to steady the ship for England with just 113 more runs to win.

6:58 pm: India are struggling to find a way through as England are inching closer to a historic win at Headingly. Duckett has played brilliantly for his 105*, and is ably supported by Crawley at other hand whose 59 off 121 deliveries has allowed his partner to play freely. India need wickets to stay alive in the contest. ENG - 180/4 after 40.4 overs.

5:34 pm: England are in the driver's seat as they stand at 117 without losing a wicket in the first session of play. Ben Duckett hit a second consecutive fifty, while Zack Crawley, too, is nearing his milestone. India will be looking to come all guns blazing after the Lunch break to keep their hopes alive of a positive outcome from the match.

3:30 pm: Start of Day 5! Big day ahead as England start the day without losing any wickets last evening. They need 350 more runs to win. India looks at their spearhead Bumrah to do his magic and hopes for support from the other end.

10:25 pm: India bowled out for 364 runs. England head into the chase with momentum after triggering an Indian collapse - 6 wickets for 31 runs late in the innings. Target - 371.

09:25 pm: KL Rahul's classy 137 ended with an inside edge to Carse but not before stretching India's lead past 300. England slowed the scoring but India stayed in firm control. India are 334/5 after 85 overs.

7:55 pm: The onslaught continues from Rahul and Pant, who have brought up brilliant centuries and also shifted gears to accelerate the scoring. With both batters in complete control and the partnership flourishing, India are firmly in the driver’s seat at 266/3 after 70 overs. A big total now looks well within reach.

6:45 pm: After a shaky start earlier in the day, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul have steadied the innings, taking India to a solid position at 179/3 after 55 overs. Both batters look settled now, and with a good platform set, India will be eyeing a total of 320+ from here.

4:45 pm: India lost Shubman Gill early on in the first session, as their hopes of moving up to a formidable target took a major blow. However, Rahul brought up a neat fifty to steady the ship for his team. He, along with Rishabh Pant, will look to put some healthy runs on the board. IND - 127/3 after 39 overs.

3:30 pm: Day 4 of the first Test gets underway, as Brydon Carse starts the proceedings for England. Shubman Gill, along with KL Rahul, will look to start the day on a good note as they already lead by 96 runs.
