India started off the proceedings of their first Test under Shubman Gill at Headingley on a positive note with 359/3 on the board after the first day of the series with centuries for the skipper and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

In the first session of Day 2, however, after Rishabh Pant got to his century, India went from 430/3 to 471 all out and had to come and bowl earlier than expected.

The ace speedster, Jasprit Bumrah, once again looked to be operating on a different wavelength as he did in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with 3/48 at the stumps but just like the Australia tour, he looked like the only bowler stepping up.

Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, on the other end, bowled 14 and 10 overs each of inconsistent lines and lengths as they ended the day wicketless with the figures reading 0/50 and 0/56 respectively.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri went on air to call out the poor bowling and the difference in levels. See what he had to say.

'There's a big difference in levels': Shastri on India's bowling

Speaking to the broadcasters after the end of Day 2, where Ollie Pope's 100* and Ben Duckett's 62 had taken England past 200, Shastri thought the other Indian bowlers were nowhere near Bumrah's level to provide assistance.

"There's a big difference in levels. The concern is Bumrah and what his workload will be as the series progresses, because he is the one man who is expected to pick wickets every spell he bowls. I just hope someone at the other end puts their hands up," said the former cricketer.

Considering Bumrah's availability for only 3 Tests, the 63-year-old hopes that someone raises their standards and deliver for the team.

"India would only be hoping that one of the other fast bowlers raises their standard and delivers for the team," he concluded.
