England have made it clear they will not back down. Despite trailing India for much of the second Test at Edgbaston, the hosts are determined to stage a comeback and offer a tough fight.
Vice-captain Harry Brook had given a strong message ahead of Day 4. With India holding a 244-run lead at stumps on Day 3, England's chase-friendly mindset has once again taken centre stage.

After being bowled out for 407 in response to India's mammoth 587, Brook believes they are still in the contest. Their top and middle-order wobbled early but a counterattacking partnership between Brook and Jamie Smith brought them back into the game.
The English batter was the top scorer for his team with 158 runs. He later expressed confidence in England's ability to chase, regardless of the target.

Speaking at the post-day press conference, Brook said the team remains unfazed by the scoreboard pressure.
"Everybody in the world knows that we’re going to try and chase whatever they set us. We’ll try and get a couple of wickets early on and put them under pressure," Brook said.
The batter added that things can shift quickly in Test cricket. He referenced England's recent streak of dramatic turnarounds, including collapses at Headingley and a final-hour swing in this very Test, to explain how one session could tilt the game either way.
Brook was visibly relieved to convert his start into a big knock after narrowly missing out at Headingley where he got dismissed for 99 in the second innings.
"I was definitely hungry to get a hundred today. I should have got a pair last week, so I can't complain too much," he admitted.
