London Spirit, defending champions, wasted no time making a statement. In their clash with Oval Invincibles at Lord’s on August 5, they gave a record-setting performance that now sits second on the list of the tournament’s all-time highest team totals.

What records did Grace Harris and London Spirit break at Lord’s?

Harris lit up Lord’s with a fearless knock of 89 not out off 42 balls, featuring six sixes and 7 fours.

She arrived with the team at 40/2 and stitched a 100-run partnership with Cordelia Griffith (50 off 29), helping Spirit post 176/5 in their 100 balls- their highest-ever total in the Women’s Hundred.

It was also the second-highest total in tournament history, just behind Welsh Fire’s 181/3 against Trent Rockets in 2023.

How did Oval Invincibles respond to the big target?

Oval Invincibles got off to a shaky start, losing skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill early. But former Aussie captain Meg Lanning kept them in the chase and hit 85 off 51 balls. She was supported by Marizanne Kapp who added a valuable 26.

Despite their efforts and a 77-run third-wicket stand, Invincibles managed only 159/4, falling short by 17 runs.

Issy Wong bowled a perfect yorker to remove Kapp and later dismissed Lanning in a game-changing moment near the end.
