Ex-India batting coach Sanjay Bangar hs claimed that the duo has performed amazingly well at their respective positions, which were earlier occupied by greats like Sharma and Kohli.
Gill batted at 4 and did a splendid job in filling the vacuum created post Kohli's retirement, while Jaiswal, as the opener, took over from where Rohit left off.
"Who were they replacing? If you look at the No. 4 spot, Shubman Gill has done as good as a Virat Kohli could have done. And who has taken Rohit Sharma's place? It is Yashasvi Jaiswal, and he has also had an equally good series to show for. Because Gill and Jaiswal got the runs, the Indian team never missed the services of Rohit and Virat," said Bangar while talking to ESPNcricinfo
Gill, batting at no. 4, ended the series with 754 runs, scoring the most runs by an Indian captain in a Test series.
