Chennai Super Kings are one of the most successful franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and have been an integral part of the tournament since its inception in 2008.

They have qualified for the IPL playoff stages 12 times, more than any other team in the league's history. They have also reached the final nine times. CSK has won the trophy four times, with only rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) having won the tournament more than them (5).

Over the past three years, however, they have only made it to the playoff stages only once (in 2021). Last season, in particular, was dreadful for the Super Kings as ended their campaign second-last in the league standings.
