Rishabh Pant set the stage on fire in the first Test of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy with two consecutive centuries, but it wasn't enough as India failed to defend a target of 371 in the second innings.
Despite the defeat, Pant's return to form after a horrendous Indian Premier League (IPL) season has provided much-needed relief to the fans of the Indian cricket team.

Pant broke many records in the match, one being the wicketkeeper-batsman with the most Test centuries for India. He surpassed MS Dhoni's record of 6 with his second-innings heroics, where he scored a brilliant 118 off 140 deliveries.
He also became the only wicketkeeper-batsman after Andy Flower to hit centuries in both innings of a Test match. As India gears up for an important showdown with England at Edgbaston, Pant would be looking to write his name on another milestone, which is currently held by the Indian stalwart Virat Kohli.

Rishabh Pant inches closer to another milestone in the series against England
Both Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli have five centuries each to their name while playing against the Three Lions. Pant jumped from 3 centuries to 5 with his consecutive tons in the first Test. He just needs one more ton to surpass the Indian stalwart, with four matches still to go.
A century at Edgbaston will see him go level with another Indian legend, Mohammad Azharuddin, as the former cricketer bagged six tons against England in his career. However, the list is topped by none other than the Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, alongside Rahul Dravid, with 7 centuries each under their belt.
Check out the full list below:
Player | No. of centuries |
Rahul Dravid | 7 |
Sachin Tendulkar | 7 |

Pant will be looking to repeat his heroics once again in an all-important Test at Edgbaston, Birmigham, as Shubman Gill and co. look to bounce back from the early setback and put in a dominant performance to level the series.
