Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, celebrated a career milestone on Wednesday, November 13, by achieving his maiden five-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy.

The Goa all-rounder’s memorable performance came on Day 1 of the Round 5 match against Arunachal Pradesh, hosted at the Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground in Porvorim. 

His impressive spell saw him claim 5/25 in nine overs, dismantling the opposition and restricting them to a modest total of 84.

How did Arjun Tendulkar perform against Arunachal Pradesh?

Opening with a left-arm seam, Arjun bowled with impressive control as he made an immediate impact by removing Nabam Hachang for a duck in his first over. He continued to pressure the Arunachal lineup, dismissing the other opener, Neelam Obi, and leaving the opposition reeling at 26/2.

Arjun’s strong showing didn’t stop there, as he claimed additional scalps, including Jay Bhavsar, whom he trapped lbw for a golden duck, and Chinmay Patil, who edged one to the wicketkeeper, Samar Shravan Dubhashi.

With Arunachal struggling at 27/4, Arjun finished his spell by bowling out Moji Ete, and picked a well-deserved five-wicket haul.

How has Arjun Tendulkar's season been so far?

Arjun is having a promising season with Goa in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. He currently ranks among the team’s leading wicket-takers, having taken 16 wickets across four matches, with an impressive average of 17.75 and an economy rate of 3.08.

His contributions with the bat have been notable as well, including a vital 42-run knock against Sikkim earlier in the season. With his five-wicket haul against Arunachal Pradesh, Arjun continues to demonstrate his all-round potential.

Ahead of the 2022-23 domestic season, Arjun Tendulkar moved from Mumbai to Goa in search of more first-class opportunities. He made his Ranji Trophy debut on December 13, 2022, in a match against Rajasthan, where he also made headlines with a century.

This memorable debut mirrored his father Sachin’s feat, as he too had scored a century on his first-class debut for Mumbai back in 1988.
