One noticeable miss from India's T20I squad for the Asia Cup is the Punjab Kings' skipper, Shreyas Iyer. Iyer has had a phenomenal IPL as well as a domestic season, but has failed to make the cut for the Indian side.

Shreyas Iyer misses out on India's Asia Cup squad
The batter from Mumbai and an IPL-winning skipper, Shreyas Iyer, has failed to find a spot in India's T20I squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. Iyer, surprisingly, has not been named even in the five standbys announced by Ajit Agarkar earlier on Tuesday.

The Punjab Kings' skipper had an amazing IPL 2025. He lit up the league with 604 runs at a blistering strike rate of 175.07 - the third best for a batter with 600-plus runs in a single season. Iyer led his side to the IPL Finals, where they eventually faced a heartbreaking defeat against RCB.
Apart from the IPL, Iyer also had a prolific domestic season, where he scored 345 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament, at an average of nearly 50 and a staggering strike rate of 188.

3 players whom Shreyas Iyer could have replaced in the Indian squad
India announced a 15-member squad and 5 standby players for the Asia Cup T20. Despite all his good work in domestic cricket and the IPL, the Mumbai batter Shreyas Iyer missed out on the Indian squad, which stunned a lot of cricketing fans as well as experts.
Let us look into 3 players whom Shreyas Iyer could have replaced in the Indian squad
1. Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube, another Mumbaikar, could well have made way for Shreyas Iyer. Dube, the left-handed batter, who was part of India's T20 World Cup squad, has not enjoyed a very good IPL season this year. He scored 357 runs in the 14 games, and also seemed to struggle with his striking.
2. Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh, the left-handed batter, has had some limited opportunities in the previous two seasons of the IPL. Rinku ended the last two IPL seasons with 168 and 206 runs in 15 and 13 matches, respectively. Moreover, Shreyas Iyer would have brought in a lot of experience to the young side and helped India, playing the anchor role in the middle-overs.
3. Dhruv Jurel
Dhruv Jurel, the wicket-keeper batter, is a part of the standbys for the Asia Cup squad. With two keeper-batters already in the 15-member squad. Indian could have gone ahead with a premier batter in the form of Shreyas Iyer, instead of picking a third wicket-keeper in the standby list.
