Who is in the WNBA 3-point contest? Caitlin Clark ruled out for 2025 event due to injury image

The 2025 WNBA season reaches its unofficial midway point when the stars converge in Indianapolis for All-Star Weekend.

This year marks the first time Indianapolis will be home to WNBA All-Star festivities, and the host Fever will be well represented in the All-Star Game with the trio of Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, and Kelsey Mitchell. Before Saturday's All-Star Game, however, the weekend begins with Friday's Skills Challenge and 3-point Contest.

Clark's representatives told ESPN's Shams Charania in January that she “wants her first three-point contest to be at WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis this summer." All eyes have been on whether she would officially commit to the event after her 2025 campaign had been dampened by injuries and a shooting slump.

While there have been questions around Clark, a few sharpshooters did not hesitate to put their names in the field early on, adding intrigue to this year's event. Last year, Dream All-Star Allisha Gray put forth a historic showing by winning both competitions on Friday night, and she'll defend both titles in 2025.

Here are the confirmed participants for the 2025 WNBA 3-point contest.

Caitlin Clark's Fever teammate Lexie Hull has been tabbed as her replacement in the 3-point contest, giving the hometown Indiana squad a representative for Friday's All-Star event.

July 17

Fever guard Caitlin Clark officially withdrew her name from both the 3-point contest and All-Star Game on Thursday, citing her need to rest and recover due to recent injuries. She exited one of Indiana's recent matchups in clear pain, appearing to re-aggravate a groin injury.

In a statement released by the Fever, Clark wrote that she's still "excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend," but she was "incredibly sad and disappointed to say" that she cannot participate in any events. Clark added that she'll still be in attendance for the festivities.

With the star guard now absent from the field of 3-point contest competitors, there is an open spot in the event alongside Sonia Citron, Allisha Gray, Sabrina Ionescu and Kelsey Plum.

The WNBA confirmed the field of five participants in this year's 3-point contest.

A trio of former No. 1 overall picks in Caitlin Clark, Sabrina Ionescu, and Kelsey Plum, as well as rookie All-Star Sonia Citron, will look to dethrone defending champion Allisha Gray.

July 13

Liberty All-Star guard Sabrina Ionescu confirmed speculation that she would be returning to the WNBA 3-point Contest in 2025.

Ionescu returns to the contest after putting forth a historic showing to win the event in 2023, scoring 37 of a possible 40 points, the record for a WNBA or NBA 3-point contest.

July 10

Mystics rookie All-Star Sonia Citron confirms her participation in the 2025 WNBA 3-point Contest during a podcast appearance with Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie.

"I think we can get a confirmation —yes, I am," Citron said. This came days after she was spotted using All-Star teammate Kiki Iriafen as a 3-point shooting rack during a pregame workout.

Is Caitlin Clark in the 2025 WNBA 3-point Contest?

Although she originally planned to participate, Clark will no longer be one of five participants in the 2025 WNBA 3-point Contest.

In January, Clark turned down an offer to take part in a 3-point contest at NBA All-Star Weekend, and it was reportedly because her sights were set on making her 3-point contest debut in front of her home fans in Indianapolis.

Clark has dealt with quad and groin injuries in the first half of the 2025 WNBA season, and after exiting a recent Fever game with an injury before the break, she announced that she could no longer commit to the All-Star Game or 3-point contest and needed the time to rest.
