Everyone wants to know what’s up with Caitlin Clark.

But more than anything, everyone wants Clark to be healthy — her team included.

To remain 100% for the regular season opener on May 17, the Fever made a decision that ultimately is for the better: Clark was ruled out for the Indiana Fever's preseason game against the Mystics on Saturday.

However, fans are certainly hoping that Clark is available to play in her return to Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Head coach Stephanie White said that Clark had made a lot of progress with her injury and they're hoping she'll be "ready to go" on Sunday.

"I mean, look, the biggest thing is we have to think long term," White said before the Fever’s game against the Mystics. "We have to make sure we're not putting Caitlin at risk for injury, we're not putting our team in a position where we're thinking short term and not long term.

"It's a long season, four more games than last season, so we want to make sure we're extra cautious and put her health first and foremost."

The Fever head to Iowa to play against the Brazil National Team on May 4 at 4 p.m. EST on ESPN.

“Countless Hawkeye fans have become Fever fans, and we consider them family,” Fever president of basketball operations Kelly Krauskopf said in a statement when the game was initially announced. “That’s what will make this preseason matchup so special for us."

Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists in her rookie season in Indiana. Before the Fever selected her with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, she had a legendary college career at Iowa that saw her shatter records.
