Rotterdam Open 2020: Vasek Pospisil eliminated in second round image

On Thursday, Vasek Pospisil was unable to carry the momentum from his upset of the No. 1 seed in the Rotterdam Open, Daniil Medvedev, into the second round, falling in straight sets, 4-6 6-7(7), to Serbian Filip Krajinovic.

After dropping the first set, and trailing 3-5 in the second, Pospisil was able to win three straight games, including breaking Krajinovic to take a 6-5 lead.

The Canadian was even evaluated by doctors during the set for experiencing cramps. Despite that, he still pulled off a stunning game-winner, keeping his comeback alive.

Pospisil saved three match points as the second set went to a tiebreak, but Krajinovic sealed the match on the fourth opportunity. The 29-year-old is 5-4 on the year and currently ranked No. 104 according to ATP rankings.

Krajinovic is ranked No. 39 in the world and was coming off a semifinal loss in the Open de Sud France tournament, the same tournament in which Pospisil went to the final and lost to Gael Monfils.

Pospisil's loss means Felix Auger-Aliassime is the lone Canadian representative in the quarterfinals of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. He is scheduled to face Slovenian and world No. 52 Aljaz Bedene on Friday.
