Real Betis had a pretty good year last year making the Conference League final and finishing in the Europa League spots last season.
Heading into this season though, they have sold pivot Johnny Cardoso to Atletico Madrid, sold young talent Jesus Rodriguez, have been unable to bring back Antony, and now have suffered a blow to their star man Isco.
According to Reuters.com, Isco has suffered a leg fracture during a preseason game against Malaga. This injury is expected to sideline the 33-year-old for around three months.
This is a huge hit to Betis's campaign as the flairy midfielder has been their most impactful player since he arrived, winning Conference League player of the season.
Isco was also out at the start of last season and it was Betis's worst stretch as they had 5 wins in the 15 La Liga matches he missed.
They may be able to bring in Dani Ceballos who has consistently been linked to a move away from Real Madrid and his boyhood club being Betis. This would cost a fee though as football-espana.net report that Madrid want around 20 million euros for him. Betis may not be able to afford this deal as they are still attempting to sign Manchester United winger Antony on a permanent deal.
Betis have some transfer business to do with just a few weeks left in the transfer window and they have to get it right. If they don't get their business right then they could be in store for a difficult season that could see them slip into midtable mediocrity.
