Manchester City and Manchester United are set for a transfer race to sign Rayan Cherki's national teammate.

Cherki is one of the top names in Man City's transfer target list for the ongoing summer transfer window, and several reports have suggested that Pep Guardiola's side has reached an agreement to sign the Frenchman.

Now, it appears that Man City are also keen on bringing one of Cherki's French teammates, Lucas Chevalier to the the Etihad this summer. The goalkeeper is also of interest to Man United, according to Le Parisien.

Despite Guardiola's earlier comments which suggested that City are retaining their existing goalkeeper, doubts over Ederson and Stefan Ortega's future continue to persist.

Man City are also reported to have signed Chelsea's Marcus Bettinelli as their new third-choice goalkeeper.

Man United, meanwhile, have been tipped to sign a potential replacement for Andre Onana for some time now, especially after the Cameroonian star's underwhelming performances in the 2024-25 season.

Chevalier is currently contracted with his boyhood club Lille until the summer of 2027, with reports suggesting that the Ligue 1 side have offered him a one-year contract extension as well.

PSG interested in Man City and Man United's transfer target

Chevalier has turned heads with his efforts on the pitch for Lille, while also bagging the UNFP Best Goalkeeper award. He has contributed to 13 clean sheets in 48 appearances across competitions in the campaign.

The aforementioned report also stated that Chevalier's performances have caught Paris Saint-Germain's eyes as their first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma's future there remains uncertain. The current Ligue 1 champions have reportedly held a longstanding interest in the French shot-stopper.

Lille are expected to demand a hefty fee to part ways with their talented academy graduate, with the amount estimated to be around €70 million (£59.3 million) if Chevalier signs a new contract with the club.
