While the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea are still nearly three months away, Team Canada still has a few tournaments left on its schedule.

Canada will take place in the 2017 Channel One Cup, an annual three-game tournament in Moscow starting on Dec. 13. Canada will join South Korea, Russia, Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic in the event — its second-to-last before deciding its final roster for the Olympic games.

“This has been a very busy few months of evaluation of Canadian hockey talent from around the world, and we are feeling very positive about where we’re at in the process. We’re looking forward to the Channel One Cup and seeing how this group of players comes together at the tournament,” Sean Burke, who is serving as GM for the Olympic process, said. “Our goal remains to put together the best possible team to compete in PyeongChang in February, and these 25 players are part of a larger group that remains under consideration.”

Canada will open the tournament on Dec. 13 when it takes on South Korea.
