It's a healthy slate of MLB games to start the weekend, including three games on Saturday afternoon. Up and down the board, there's a solid selection pitchers at varying price points who could be in play today in your daily fantasy baseball lineup.
In the early slate, Rich Hill has a good matchup against the Mets, previously torching them this year with eight strikeouts earlier this year. Also, Zach Davies is coming off back-to-back great outings and has a great matchup against the Rays. Opposite him, Alex Cobb is coming off his worst start this year, but he’s a good bounce-back candidate against the strikeout-prone Brewers.
In the evening, Danny Salazar is the top choice. Since the Yankees struck out 11 times against Corey Kluber and seven times against Trevor Bauer the past two nights, I’m gonna keep riding this trend with Salazar. Since his return from the DL, Salazar is 2-0 with 16 strikeouts in 13 innings. Also, Gerrit Cole faces the Padres for the second time in a row. Last time out on the road, he dominated with seven innings, one run, and eight strikeouts. This time, Pirates are at home, and the Padres are much worse on the road than at home.
For lesser-valued pitchers with favorable matchups, Drew Pomeranz faces a weak White Sox offense. He’s been hot lately and occasionally will put up a big strikeout performance, which he has twice in his past four starts. Other potential value picks include Taijuan Walker, Charlie Morton and Luis Castillo.
