Deep playoff runs are all about temporary traditions, which the Oilers have shown over the past few years.

From the team that brought you "Play La Bamba" comes this year's song of the playoffs, "Pink Pony Club." Chappell Roan's hit song is one of the most popular tunes in North America, so it's no surprise that it has made its way to the sports world.

During Oilers home games, Edmonton has been playing the song in the third period, with fans along in the background.

However, the "Pink Pony Club" influence doesn't end there, as the Oilers players have been playing the song after wins in locker room celebrations.

In recent history, NHL teams have adopted songs as their Stanley Cup soundtrack, whether its the Avalanche playing "All the Small Things" in 2022 to the Blues playing "Gloria" in 2019.

So, why have the Oilers' made "Pink Pony Club" their victory song? Here's the latest.

Oilers' 'Pink Pony Club', song explained

The Oilers players' use on "Pink Pony Club" as their victory song appears to date back to the beginning of the playoffs, when they played the song in the locker room after their first two wins of the postseason against the Kings.

However, the Oilers stadium played the song as a singalong for fans during the game as far back as, at least, March 15.

While the Oilers have adopted "Pink Pony Club" as their song of the playoffs, the Edmonton players have refused to reveal the reasoning behind it.

"We're going to keep that one within the team," Evan Bouchard said, via the Edmonton Sun.

It's clear that there is a reason why the team chose this song, but no one wants to be the first to let the public know its origin.

"Well, I know exactly where it started, but I don’t know if I want to let that secret out," Calvin Pickard said. "I know exactly when, because I was there. But, I think I am going to keep it tight to the chest."

The song itself doesn't have any ties to hockey, Edmonton, or anything that would connect directly to the Oilers team. Therefore, fans can use their imaginations to guess why the Oilers chose "Pink Pony Club" as their victory song.

I know you wanted me to stayBut I can't ignore the crazy visions of me in LAAnd I heard that there's a special placeWhere boys and girls can all be queens every single day

I'm having wicked dreams of leaving TennesseeHear Santa Monica, I swear it's calling meWon't make my mama proud, it's gonna cause a sceneShe sees her baby girl, I know she's gonna scream

God, what have you done? You're a pink pony girlAnd you dance at the clubOh mama, I'm just having funOn the stage in my heelsIt's where I belong down at the

I'm up and jaws are on the floorLovers in the bathroom and a line outside the doorBlacklights and a mirrored disco ballEvery night's another reason why I left it all

I thank my wicked dreams a year from TennesseeOh, Santa Monica, you've been too good to meWon't make my mama proud, it's gonna cause a sceneShe sees her baby girl, I know she's gonna scream
