Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward faced a challenging day on Tuesday during the first fully padded practice of training camp, recording three interceptions. This performance followed a strong first week for the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, during which coaches, teammates and analysts praised his play.

According to a detailed breakdown by Nick Suss of The Tennessean, Ward's interceptions were costly in team periods. "One of the interceptions came on a miscommunication where Ward and tight end Chig Okonkwo seemed to be out of sync on where the route was supposed to go," Suss reported.

Another turnover occurred when Ward "tried to sidearm through traffic but ended up ricocheting the ball off defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat's helmet into the arms of cornerback Gabe Jeudy-Lally."

The third interception was on a deep corner route intended for tight end Josh Whyle, but cornerback Darrell Baker Jr intercepted the pass.

Today, Ward completed 5-for-9 passing in 7-on-7 drills and 6-for-17 in full team 11-on-11 periods.

Suss noted that pressure from the defense played a role, especially late in practice. Ward was forced out of the pocket multiple times.

A tough day for Ward is understandable, given that he is a rookie QB just beginning his NFL career. As Titans head coach Brian Callahan pointed out a few days ago, it can be considered part of the "growth and development" for Ward.

With Will Levis' season-ending injury, Ward faces added pressure as he is expected to be the starting QB in Week 1.
