Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan will place top priority on one thing when his team faces the Atlanta Falcons on Friday: ball security. The Week 2 preseason game offers a chance to correct the mistakes they committed against the Buccaneers in the opener.
Callahan expressed frustration after the 29‑7 loss to the Bucs, saying turnovers "blew the game open." Titans reporter Jim Wyatt noted on Thursday that it's something fans should watch closely heading into the next game.
"Nobody likes bad habits, as an individual or as a team," Wyatt wrote. "The Titans turned the ball over three times against the Buccaneers, including interceptions thrown by backup quarterbacks Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle, the latter of the two returned for a touchdown.
"Coach Brian Callahan said he was disappointed with how sloppy the Titans got late in the opener, and he wants to see a cleaner performance in Atlanta. The Titans parted ways with Boyle earlier this week, and signed QB Trevor Siemian, who is expected to play at least some on Friday night."
Backup quarterbacks were responsible for all three turnovers, with one returned for a touchdown by the Bucs.
The quarterback room saw a shakeup as veteran Trevor Siemian was signed to replace Boyle, who was released earlier this week. Siemian, with extensive NFL experience, will get a chance to prove his fit in the Tennessee offense during Friday's game.
