You can't go wrong with a guy named Thor.

That might not actually be a real phrase, but it sounds right. The Seattle Seahawks are certainly hoping it's true.

On Tuesday, the Seahawks signed undrafted rookie Thor Griffith to a contract.

Griffith played at Louisville and was in rookie minicamp with Seattle. Apparently he impressed enough there to now get this deal midway through training camp.

The 6-foot-2, 320-pound Griffith is a defensive tackle from Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Last season for Louisville, Griffith had 21 tackles (6.0 TFL) with 3.0 sacks and a forced fumble.

Griffith is smart, having spent the first three years of his college career at Harvard.

He was twice named to The Athletic's "Freaks List" put together by Bruce Feldman.

This is what Feldman wrote about Griffith after his transfer from Harvard to Louisville:

"After three seasons dominating in the Ivy League for Harvard, piling up 132 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks, the former New Hampshire state wrestling champ and hockey standout has transferred to the ACC. He didn’t do offseason testing at Louisville, but make no mistake that the 6-2, 320-pounder is one of the most explosive players in college football. Griffith has bench pressed 225 pounds 45 times and ran a 4.95 40 with a 10-yard split of 1.65 seconds. In addition, he has clocked a 4.57 pro shuttle time."

That certainly seems like a guy worth taking a chance on for the Seahawks, especially when you factor in the bonus reality that his name is Thor.
