The Houston Texans have agreed to a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles that sends wide receiver John Metchie to the defending Super Bowl champions.
Metchie was buried on the Texans' depth chart in each of the last two seasons, and judging by how Houston drafted this past April, that was set to be the case again. And while he gets a fresh start in Philadelphia, it is being reported that the 49ers were also in on the Alabama product.
"Sources: The 49ers were the other team trying to trade for John Metchie III," Jordan Schultz reports. "But the Eagles made a better offer."
Metchie was drafted in the second-round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but missed the 2022 season due to battling blood cancer. He returned in 2023 and has 40 catches over the last two seasons.
