Trade rumors and speculation have been swirling around Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens for months now, and there appears to be a possibility that he will indeed be traded.

According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Steelers have been taking calls about the former second-round pick and the team is "open" to making a deal as it searches for a second Day 2 pick after the team traded its original second-rounder to the Seahawks for wide receiver DK Metcalf.

"The Steelers have been receiving calls about the availability of WR George Pickens, per sources," Russini wrote. "Pittsburgh is open to conversations as it navigates Friday night without a second-round pick (traded for DK Metcalf)."

Pickens is entering the final year of his contract and because of his volatile behavior, the thought has been the Steelers are hesitant to extend him. Adding to that, the Steelers paid Metcalf and might not want to pay big money to another wideout.

Because of his age and talent, Pickens could garner the Steelers a third-round pick, although that remains to be seen. We wouldn't imagine Pickens fetching a second-rounder because of his volatile attitude and contract situation.

Perhaps the Steelers can swing getting a second-rounder in return with a pick swap. Either way, it appears that Pickens being traded is a very realistic possibility.
