It took long enough.
But finally, Aaron Rodgers seems to have reached an agreement to be the Pittsburgh Steelers' starting quarterback in 2025. And there's one reason that may explain it all.
ESPN's Adam Schefter explained it like this in a post on X on Thursday evening:
"Steelers never wavered in their belief that Aaron Rodgers eventually would sign with Pittsburgh. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin loomed large in this entire situation. Tomlin was a drawing card for Rodgers, and was happy to work within Rodgers’ timeline. He is a major reason that Rodgers will be a Steeler."

There you have it. Tomlin came through.
He's one of the best head coaches in NFL history, and his acumen in dealing with Rodgers apparently helped make this whole thing happen.
There are plenty of reasons Tomlin has never had a losing season in the NFL, and his people skills are certainly a part of that.

Rodgers reportedly dealt with some off-field struggles this offseason that were part of the reason he delayed his signing in Pittsburgh.
Tomlin seemingly never wavered.

None of this guarantees that Rodgers and Tomlin will be best friends by the end of the 2025 season.
But the Steelers needed their leader to help them get this deal over the finish line. And based on what Schefter wrote, Tomlin had his fingerprints all over this contract the whole time.
