Odell Beckham Jr. is still a free agent and is pursuing an NFL comeback, and it sounds like Aaron Rodgers is trying to recruit him to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During a podcast appearance in June, Beckham stated that he's had conversations with Rodgers this offseason and is keeping the possibility of playing for the Steelers open.
"We've [Beckham on Rodgers] had conversations," Beckham said on The Club Random podcast with Bill Maher in June. "I won't say that it's not a possibility, and I won't say that I haven't had any communication [with the Steelers]. I love Mike [Tomlin]."
Though Beckham is no longer a high-level starting receiver who can provide adequate production, the 32-year-old can still provide solid depth as a veteran pass-catcher. Pittsburgh needs all the receiving help they can get, so adding Beckham for cheap would be a logical move at this stage of the offseason.
The three-time Pro Bowler played eight games with the Miami Dolphins in 2024, hauling in just nine receptions for 55 yards. He was released by the team in December 2024, and the parting of ways was deemed mutual.
Beckham did have a decent 2023 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens, tallying 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games.
Pittsburgh needs to acquire a viable No.2 receiver opposite DK Metcalf. Though Beckham wouldn't fill that need, the former first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft could still provide some value as a savvy veteran playmaker for Rodgers and help out Arthur Smith's offense in 2025.
Additionally, based on Beckham's comments, there seems to be interest from both sides on a potential contract. According to Over the Cap, the Steelers have $19.2 million in cap space.
