Some Pittsburgh Steelers players had a lot of things to say before Aaron Rodgers signed, and one of them was defensive lineman Cameron Heyward.
Heyward addressed the topic with Rodgers on the most recent episode of his "Not Just Football with Cam Heyward" podcast and even went on to apologize.
"I have to apologize," Heyward said to Rodgers. "I guess my words were taken out of context when I said, ‘Do you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or not?'"
The comment certainly turned heads at the time, but Heyward eventually clarified them, saying he didn't mean any ill will toward the future Hall of Famer.
Here's how Rodgers responded to Heyward's apology:
“Well, I think there’s a great quote in a TV show that I enjoyed called 'Ted Lasso.' Ted talks about one of his favorite quotes: be curious, not judgmental. And I think that’s kind of how I wanted to approach this season,” he said. “And anybody that said anything, I try and put myself in their shoes as much as possible.
"And I respect the hell outta you and what you’ve accomplished in the game and your leadership from afar, it seems like you’re the type of leader that I’d wanna play with. So when you said that I didn’t take offense to that at all,” Rodgers concluded.
Heyward wasn't the only Steelers player who said something controversial about Rodgers.
Safety DeShon Elliott joked that the Steelers should leave the 41-year-old "at the retirement home," a comment he has since apologized to Rodgers over.
Rodgers added that he "never got offended by anyone" and the comments only made him want to get to know those same players more.
Elliott and Heyward have made amends with Rodgers, so does that mean Terry Bradshaw is next? We're not holding our breath for that.
