The Patriots and Vikings will clash on Saturday under the bright lights of U.S. Bank Stadium.
New England kicked off its 2025 preseason in style, steamrolling the Washington Commanders 48-18 last Friday at Gillette Stadium. This trip to Minnesota marks just the third time the Patriots have played a preseason game there — and the first since their 38-27 win way back on Aug. 29, 1987.
The preseason head-to-head currently leans in New England’s favor at 3-2, and the Patriots also boast a 9-5 edge over the Vikings in regular-season matchups. Their last meeting came on Thanksgiving night in 2022, when Minnesota carved out a 33-26 victory.
As for the Vikings, their preseason opener brought a big moment for quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Making his long-awaited return after missing all of his rookie campaign with a torn meniscus suffered in last year’s first preseason game, McCarthy was greeted with thunderous applause.
He made the most of his lone series, completing 4 of 7 passes for 30 yards and steering Minnesota to a scoring drive in a 20-10 win over the Houston Texans.
