Redskins' Vernon Davis defies age with hurdle, run for touchdown against Eagles image

Vernon Davis is 35 — allegedly. On the seventh play of Washington's season-opening drive against Philadelphia on Sunday, he looked more like 25.

Yeah, Case Keenum — or Dwayne Haskins whenever he gets a chance — will be just fine as the Redskins' quarterback if he's going to get that from his tight end.

Davis is in his 14th NFL season and his fourth with Washington. He is in the final year of a three-year contract that pays him an average annual salary of $5 million.

A few more plays like that, and he just might earn himself an extension.

Davis' ridiculous touchdown gave the Redskins an immediate lead in a game they were expected to lose. According to the Fox broadcast, it was the first touchdown on the Redskins' opening drive of a season since 2004.
