The Raiders and left tackle Donald Penn have agreed to terms on a two-year, $21 million extension that includes guarantees into 2018, NFL Network reported Friday, citing unidentified sources informed of the situation.

The Raiders persuaded Penn, 34, to end a holdout during training camp with the promise they would negotiate an extension since he was slated to be paid only $6 million in 2017, less than half what some of the NFL's starting left tackles make.

The new deal appears to show how eager the Raiders are to keep not just Penn happy but also quarterback Derek Carr.

According to Spotrac (via NFL.com), even before Penn's new contract, the Raiders were tops in the NFL in salary-cap dollars ($43 million) spent on on their offensive line.
