The move comes in response to this summer's rally and violence involving white supremacists and neo-Nazis in Long's hometown after which he and his wife, Megan, "were inspired to fund the scholarship program to promote educational equity in the community their family calls home,” the Chris Long Foundation said in a statement (via The Athletic).

Long's foundation will provide two members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia with seven-year, all-expenses-paid scholarships to St. Anne’s-Belfield School, his alma mater.

Long's contract for 2017 pays him a base salary of $1,000,000, a signing bonus of $500,000 and a roster bonus of $750,000, totaling $2.25 million. Six game checks would equal $843,750 before taxes.
