Old Deion Sanders tweet goes viral for the wrong reason after Shedeur's NFL Draft slide image

Shedeur Sanders' slide in the 2025 NFL Draft was a controversial one.

Day one of the 2025 NFL Draft is in the books, but the first round did not lack surprises. Sanders' Colorado teammate and reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter, was the centerpiece of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Browns to acquire the number two pick on Thursday night, allowing them to select the two-way star.

Jacksonville's new regime, led by general manager James Gladstone, didn't waste any time making a splash, parting ways with the fifth overall pick in addition to the 36th pick and their 2026 first-round selection in order to move up to number two for Hunter.

While Hunter and the Jags were the stars of the show in round one, another Colorado star didn't have the same luck on Thursday night.

After the New York Giants traded back into the first round, acquiring the 25th overall pick from the Houston Texans, many thought it was to bring Shedeur Sanders to the Big Apple. However, Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen had other plans as the pick was Ole Miss signal caller, Jaxson Dart.

After Dart went off the board, the final seven picks of the first round went by and Sanders was still on the board, leaving more questions than answers for the 2024 Johnny Unitas Award winner.

Sanders admitted he and the rest of his family weren't expecting him to fall out of the first round when addressing his draft party following the end of the opening round.

While some are baffled that Sanders wasn't selected in the first-round, others used the opportunity to troll the Colorado star and his NFL Hall of Fame father, Deion, who had a tweet from nearly one-year ago, claiming Shedeur would be a top-five pick, go viral following his son not being selected on Thursday night.

Twitter/X users even went as far as to community note Deion's post, letting everyone know Shedeur, in fact, did not go in the top-five picks on Thursday night.

While Sanders didn't go in the first round, he's widely expected to be an early selection on Friday night during the second round. During the pre-draft process, the Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders were both heavily linked to Sanders and it's worth noting that the Browns hold the 33rd and 36th picks on Friday night, while Raiders hold the 37th selection in round number two, with both clubs opting to pass on quarterbacks altogether in round one.

Rounds two and three of the 2025 NFL Draft go down on Friday at 7:00 p.m. EST.
