Nine-year-old Janie Hunt, a relative of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, was one of the Camp Mystic campers who died due to flooding in Texas over the weekend.
Clark's wife, Tavia Hunt, posted to social media revealing that the family had lost Janie Hunt due to the Texas flooding.
As of Monday, the floods have killed at least 82 people, including at least 28 children in Kerr County where Camp Mystic is located, per CNN. Ten girls at the Christian all-girls camp and one counselor are still unaccounted for.

Per Fox News, nine-year-old Janie Hunt was one of the Camp Mystic campers who died in the flooding over the weekend. Tavia Hunt posted to Instagram to share the news, writing that the family's "hearts are broken."
"Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives – including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friend’s little girls," Hunt wrote.
She also shared messages about her Christian faith after the family's loss.
"How do we trust a God who is supposed to be good, all knowing and all powerful, but who allows such terrible things to happen – even to children?" Hunt wrote. "That is a sacred and tender question — and one the Bible doesn’t shy away from. Scripture is filled with the cries of those whose hearts have been shattered, who still wrestle to trust the same God they believe allowed the pain."

Janie Hunt was a young cousin in the Hunt family. Her great-grandfather was William Herbert Hunt, a billionaire who died in 2024. William Hunt's nephew is Clark Hunt, the current owner of the Kansas City Chiefs.

In Kerr County, the location of the Christian all-girls camp named Camp Mystic, at least 28 children and 40 adults have reportedly died, with another 10 girls from the camp and one counselor still unaccounted for as of July 6, according to CNN.
Camp Mystic is located along the Guadalupe River, which flooded in a span of under two hours over the weekend due to torrential rain.
