Jets' Braelon Allen gets big update in RB depth chart battle with Breece Hall image

It's easy to see why the New York Jets want to give Braelon Allen more carries.

The young running back is big, powerful and fast. He just looks imposing with the football in his hands.

As a rookie, the fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin had 92 carries for 334 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 148 yards and another score.

This season, his role could be bigger.

This is how ESPN's Rich Cimini broke it down in a new write-up on Thursday:

"Allen received 28% of the running back carries last season, and that number will increase in 2025. The Jets want to be a run-oriented offense and, while Breece Hall will likely get the most touches, the plan is to give Allen a bigger role. Head coach Aaron Glenn loves his power and downhill running style."

Hall has been floated in trade rumors heading into the final season of his contract. A deal would obviously clear things up greatly for Allen.

But even if Hall stays, like Cimini writes, Glenn wants to get Allen (and maybe Isaiah Davis) more touches.

That's not even accounting for how much running new QB Justin Fields is expected to do.

The presence of Fields should make life better for all the Jets' running backs. Defenses will have to respect Fields' rushing ability, leaving more space for the RBs to work.

Whether that's mostly Hall, mostly Allen, or some kind of even split? That remains to be seen.

But it's an exciting time to be hanging out in the Jets' backfield. There are lots of yards to be gained.
