New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo is already a Big Blue fan favorite.

The fourth-round pick from Arizona State brings a no-nonsense, win-at-all-costs running style to the Giants at a time when the fanbase is in desperate need of a running back who can help them forget about Saquon Barkley.

And while Skattebo won't have that kind of impact in his rookie year, a new projection of every rookie running back's production in 2025 suggests he will make his presence felt in Year 1.

According to Bleacher Report's Alex Kay, Skattebo will finish the 2025 season with 675 rushing yards and four touchdowns as well as 223 receiving yards and another score through the air.

"Projections for Skattebo’s rookie year should be tempered, however, due to his landing spot in the draft," Kay wrote. "Big Blue already has a potential-laden back in Tyrone Tracy Jr.—who emerged as one of the team’s few bright spots last year—and should continue to feature the 2024 fifth-rounder as the starter this season.

"On the bright side, the dynamic converted receiver should pair nicely with the hard-charging Skattebo. The rookie will be able to take advantage of his rotational role and further wear down defenses that have been expending energy pursuing Tracy."

If Cam Skattebo produces at this rate -- nearly 700 rushing yards -- while playing in a complementary role to Tracy, then the Giants will have one of the more productive rushing attacks in the NFL. It's why I believe he'll actually have more rushing yards; he'll unseat Tracy as Big Blue's starting running back, probably by midseason.

The duo will both have a role; Tracy won't go from more than 800 rushing yards as a rookie to suddenly being irrelevant. But his traits as a pass-catching back will serve New York well on third downs while Skattebo bangs heads between the tackles on the early, obvious rushing downs.

Regardless of how the running back pecking order shakes out, the New York Giants have an exciting young running back room in 2025, which should help ease the pain of Barkley running wild once again this year.
