The trade speculation involving the New York Giants and edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux isn't going away anytime soon. It's what happens anytime a team has an embarrassment of riches at one position, which is what the Giants have with their pass rushers.

Armed with Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, and Thibodeaux, Big Blue's pass rush has a chance to be the best in the NFC this season.

But with New York still in the early stages of what feels like a rebuild, would GM Joe Schoen be better served getting valuable draft picks in 2026 instead of fielding a three-headed pass-rushing monster this year?

In a recent trade prediction involving the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans, the answer seems like an obvious yes.

In this projected deal, the Giants send Thibodeaux to Tennessee for 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick. That 2026 second-rounder could be extremely valuable, considering the Titans aren't expected to win many games in Year 1 of the Cam Ward era.

"It would be a big swing for a Titans team that isn't guaranteed to be competitive in 2025, but a quick Ward ascent could leave Tennessee hoping it did more to address its defense to complement a rising offense," For The Win's Cory Woodroof wrote. "We're not sure if New York would entertain a Thibodeaux trade, but we do think the right offer might get the Giants interested in trading the pass-rusher. The Titans could sign Thibodeaux to a new contract to lock him in for the future after trading for him."

If Thibodeaux has a big season in 2025, you can bet he'll look to break the bank on his second contract. And it'll be the kind of contract the Giants can't commit to after having so much invested in Burns and Carter. Thus, a trade makes sense, and a trade before Thibodeaux's contract demands get out of control would be a smart strategy for Schoen to take.
