New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll slammed the door on any quarterback controversy to start the 2025 NFL season when he addressed the media on Wednesday morning.

Daboll confirmed that Russell Wilson is his QB1.

The 'guys' Daboll is referring to in the Giants' quarterback room, in addition to Wilson, are Jameis Winston and prized first-round pick Jaxson Dart. While Winston is certainly a serviceable backup at this point in his career, it's Dart who poses the biggest threat to Wilson's starting gig.

Indeed, Dart faces a steep learning curve like all rookie quarterbacks who enter the NFL. By default, Wilson should have at least one month of an undisputed and uncontested rein as Big Blue's starter. But once Dart gets comfortable with life as a pro quarterback, Wilson's leash will shorten.

And all it will take is a few bad throws or a series of consecutive losses for New York Giants fans to begin clammoring for Jaxson Dart to make his debut.

We've seen this same story play out time and time again in the NFL: Head coach voices confidence in his veteran starter while the buzz around a first-round rookie continues to grow. Usually, that buzz overtakes football logic and results in a lineup change.

We'll see how long it takes before Brian Daboll falls victim to the first-round quarterback temptation and makes a QB change. For now, he's holding strong; Russell Wilson is his guy.
