Giants legend Jason Pierre-Paul hints at NFL comeback from retirement after fireworks accident image

Jason Pierre-Paul's NFL career didn't end when he lost 2.5 fingers in a fireworks accident.

That was 10 years ago now, and JPP went on to play through the 2023 season, often as a big difference maker as a pass rusher.

Now, after a season away, Pierre-Paul wants to make a comeback. And if he returns, he wants to do it with his first team, the New York Giants.

“I think that’ll be dope,” Pierre-Paul told ESPN's Jordan Raanan. “Tremendous. To go back somewhere where my career started . . . the fans know me and know the type of player that I am. I’ll always be that type of player and just give them everything I got, which I know it’ll be more than enough.”

JPP won two Super Bowls (2011 NYG, 2020 TB). He recorded 94.5 sacks in his career.

But he knows it could've been more.

“My message to kids is you never know how life is going to go,” Pierre-Paul said. “Don’t put yourself in a predicament that you’re going to regret later.”

Pierre-Paul wants to seek greatness on the gridiron once again.

“You get another chance of it every day,” Pierre-Paul said. “So why not be great at what you got going on?”

It'd certainly be a cool story if Pierre-Paul, now 36 years old, got back on the NFL field again. Maybe the Giants should give him a call.
