Spencer Rattler hails Saints rookies' dependability after Jonas Sanker's pivotal pick vs. Jaguars image

In the New Orleans Saints' Week 2 preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Spencer Rattler delivered a performance that could have solidified his position as the team's starting quarterback over rookie Tyler Shough. Entering the game in the second half with the Saints trailing 17-3, Rattler rallied the offense to tie the score at 17-17.

While his impact was crucial, Rattler praised the Saints' 2025 third-round draft pick Jonas Sanker and the entire rookie class for their key contributions in helping the team avoid a loss.

Rattler's late touchdown pass and two-point conversion helped the Saints rally from a 14-point deficit. But Sanker's interception off a tipped pass in the final moments was the game's highlight.

"They’re ballers," Rattler said of the Saints rookie class shortly after the game. "I mean, they’re dependable. They’re reliable. They know their stuff and Jonas has had a great camp and obviously made plays throughout the preseason and made a great pick. I thought there was a second left, but he made a hell of a play."

Sanker's interception is a must-see play. Watch the video below to catch the highlight:

Against the Jaguars, Rattler completed 18 of 24 passes for 199 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Much of the Saints' scoring came on his connection with receiver Dante Pettis, including a 20-yard touchdown with just 21 seconds remaining.
