Following the trade that sent Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the backlash is beginning to mount. This time it comes from former Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert.
Mostert, who spent the last three seasons in Miami and earned Pro Bowl honors in 2023, made his feelings known with a post on social media: “Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!!”
The comments added another layer to what has been a chaotic stretch for the Dolphins, where general manager Chris Grier has come under fire. After signing Ramsey to a new extension last offseason, Grier ultimately moved him and Smith in a deal that netted veteran safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
It didn’t appear like an inspiring return at first. But some believe Grier may have salvaged a difficult situation. OutKick’s Armando Salguero defended the Dolphins’ GM, offering a more optimistic take.
“Gotta say, and Dolphins fans will not agree, but Chris Grier turned a terrible situation in which everyone knew he HAD TO trade Ramsey and gets back a younger player the organization (minus Brian Flores) loved years ago is salvaging the situation,” Salguero wrote. “The Dolphins could be winning this trade.”

Still, Mostert’s frustration is not insignificant. The 11-year veteran was coming off a career-best season in 2023, rushing for 1,012 yards and a league-high 18 touchdowns. In 2024, he appeared in 13 games and recorded 85 carries for 278 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with 19 receptions for 161 yards. The Dolphins released him on February 14, 2025.
A month later, Mostert signed a one-year, $2.1 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, officially ending his tenure in Miami.
His comments speak to a larger concern about how the Dolphins are handling their personnel — and what message it sends to players. With questions still surrounding head coach Mike McDaniel and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the spotlight remains on Grier. And with players now speaking up, the criticism won’t be quieting down anytime soon.
