The Miami Dolphins hosted a former first-round pick for a workout.
They signed a different cornerback instead.
Admittedly, that probably says more about the players involved and their current ability than it does about Miami's decision-making. It's still an interesting outcome, though.
The non-signee was C.J. Henderson. The Jacksonville Jaguars chose him No. 9 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Florida.
The Dolphins chose to sign Cornell Armstrong after the big workout, but not Henderson.

Henderson has started 27 NFL games. He made 10 starts with the Jags, then they traded him to the Panthers, where he made 17 more starts.
Carolina didn't pick up Henderson's fifth-year option. He then signed with the Texans. Henderson spent the 2024 season on the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad and didn't play in a regular season game.
The Dolphins are dealing with a lack of cornerback depth after Artie Burns' ACL injury. Getting eyes on Henderson will likely keep him in mind down the road if Miami needs another corner, but he's not joining the team for now.
