The Miami Dolphins faced a tough decision regarding cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who reportedly wanted a trade out of Miami. The most challenging part of the situation was maneuvering around Ramsey’s hefty contract. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Dolphins were unwilling to help any team financially with Ramsey.
The core issue wasn’t money, though. The real reason behind the trade discussions reportedly stemmed from a fractured relationship between Ramsey and head coach Mike McDaniel.
“The broken relationship between Jalen Ramsey and McDaniel is why he’s on the trade block,” said an anonymous scout. “No one has been able to explain what happened, but I was told this actually has nothing to do with money. It’s a vote of no confidence in McDaniel. If the Ramsey trade goes down, this is a huge talent drain in the secondary.”
With Ramsey gone, the Dolphins are now exploring options to replace him. There are still viable names available in free agency, and one target was reportedly Asante Samuel Jr.—but that possibility may have been damaged by his father’s outspoken comments.
“The Dolphins had no reason to trade Jalen Ramsey other than they’re sensitive, there’s no leadership in the Dolphins organization,” Asante Samuel Sr. said. “Mike McDaniel is a pushover... Chris Grier — the general manager — he has no backbone… they’re running this team like a little league team. No one can stand up to the players. They're terrified of their own players. And they have no control over their players."
Despite that drama, the Dolphins are still exploring other options. One name gaining traction is Rasul Douglas, whom Miami has reportedly been monitoring closely.

“Miami would make a ton of sense, if Douglas is willing to reconsider the team's offer. The Dolphins are obviously interested, and after trading Jalen Ramsey to the Steelers, they have a greater need for help at cornerback,” Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report wrote.
Douglas would be a smart addition and could immediately help fill the major void left by Ramsey. As the Dolphins aim to prove doubters wrong this season, adding a proven corner like Douglas would be a key step in the right direction.
