The Los Angeles Chargers could be looking to add some wide receiver depth before the 2025 season after cuts are made around the league. Though the team has made strides to improve the position overall and give Justin Herbert more explosive options, slight improvements could be made.

One of those could come in the form of a multiple-time Super Bowl champion, and one who caught the game-winning touchdown just a couple of years ago.

Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman signed with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent this offseason. However, Jordan J. Wilson of Heavy is predicting that Hardman could be cut by Green Bay this summer.

Should that happen, Anthony Palacios of Last Word on Sports sees the Chargers as a team that could swoop in.

"The Los Angeles Chargers are in dire need of a wide receiver. 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey will most likely carry this unit on his back again. Meanwhile, Quentin Johnston is hoping to have a turnaround, but the chances of that happening are low. Hardman could save this pass offense temporarily while Tre Harris develops as a capable target for Justin Herbert", wrote Palacios.

To say the team is in "dire need" of a wide receiver is a bit much. In addition to the names mentioned, the Chargers also drafted KeAndre Lambert-Smith and still have Derius Davis on the roster.

Tre Harris will be expected to make an immediate impact and if that doesn't happen, Hardman would hardly be the player to turn to as he's never been much more than a gadget player and special teams guy. That's where he could help the Chargers if they added him to the roster.

Hardman could return kicks and punts and be inserted in as part of certain packages to use his speed and athletic ability to make a big play in key moments. That's what he is. An every-down wide receiver, he is not and has never been.

The Packers have a young wide receiving corps, but it is a deep group. It's certainly plausible that Hardman could be left off of their 53-man roster, but whether or not the Chargers would be interested could be considered quite questionable.
