Chiefs cut ties with 2 of their newest players after other roster decisions image

The Kansas City Chiefs just added a couple new players, but that means they had to make room.

So two guys who were already pretty new to Kansas City are now out on the free agent market again.

The Chiefs cut tight end Kevin Foelsch and offensive guard Tremayne Anchrum Jr., according to the NFL transactions wire.

That follows the signings of Geor'Quarius Spivey and offensive lineman Joey Lombard.

Foelsch had only been signed nine days ago after the Texans cut him. He was a star at Division II New Haven, where he caught 16 touchdowns. Before this, he'd also been under contract briefly with the Eagles, Panthers and Jets.

Anchrum is also an ex-Texan.

He was a seventh-round pick in 2020, and has played 31 games in the NFL. He did earn a Super Bowl ring with the Rams.

Anchrum has also been under contract with the Seahawks and Saints. He spent the end of the 2024 season on the Texans practice squad.

These are just two more moves in June that are common in the NFL. They've got big meaning to the players involved, but on a team level, they're just depth machinations for the Chiefs. Maybe they matter in the long run, but probably not.
