The narrative of the offseason has been that the Green Bay Packers have too many receivers.

But that's being thrown on its head just a little bit this week.

The basis for that idea starts with the four returning veteran wideouts: Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.

But on Tuesday, none of those four practiced. All four are out with injuries, according to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman.

When you add in Jordan Love's absence with his left thumb injury, it's not an ideal situation.

Watson's injury, a recovery from a torn ACL, is the only one considered serious.

But for the time being, the Packers are counting on rookies Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, returning depth guy Malik Heath and free agent signee Mecole Hardman to help lead the very depleted receiving corps.

In an ideal world, the Packers would be fully healthy at wideout and potentially be able to trade one for help at a different position.

But if no one is practicing from that veteran core, it makes any thought of a deal that much harder.

The Packers may never have intended to make a trade anyway, but it's a concern regardless.

They open the season in less than a month, at home against the Detroit Lions. It's a crucial NFC North showdown right off the bat.

Green Bay would love to have its full allotment of wideouts to choose from to put pressure on Detroit's secondary.

But right now, the Packers have none of their established WRs to choose from. They need them to get back on the field first, and then the real fun can start.
