The Green Bay Packers still have some holes to fill on the defensive line. There could be future deals that pan out, or they may be content with their current roster. ESPN’s Seth Walder believes the Packers could explore a trade for Kayvon Thibodeaux.

“The Packers are natural trade partners here. This is a team in contention now, but with a major need at edge,” Walder wrote. “Who, exactly, Green Bay would be getting remains a question. But given his draft pedigree and young age (24), he absolutely still offers star-level upside. Plus, he's been on a bad team the past two years.”

While the offense seems more settled, the wide receiver room is facing a different kind of problem—not a shortage, but an excess. Rookie Matthew Golden’s emergence could force the Packers to move on from a veteran receiver.

“The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie’s overall athleticism has already shown up," Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote. "It’ll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden’s development."

Golden is a very smart and fast player. Even though he is a rookie, he is already displaying veteran-like skills during practice. Romeo Doubs could be one name on the trading block. However, an injury to Jayden Reed adds complexity—Reed left practice on Thursday blaming his cleats.

“LaFleur said Jayden Reed dropped out of practice yesterday because of a foot issue. Blamed it on his cleats, actually,” The Athletic’s Matthew Schneidman posted.

This raises interesting questions about how cleats could cause an injury—or if it might be more of a mindset issue. Reed will need to prove why he deserves to stay on the roster rather than be traded. Taking himself out of practice isn’t the best way to secure his spot.
