The Green Bay Packers are hoping for a breakout year from quarterback Jordan Love. The offense is as talented as ever, but the team will only go as far as Love can take them.
“It’s Jordan Love time. Only one offensive player on the roster (two-time Pro Bowl guard Elgton Jenkins), and three players in total, predate the quarterback’s time with the team. He’s on a top-of-market deal, so the onus is on him to start lifting his teammates rather than the other way around. The roster’s still solid, but competitions at left tackle and receiver will help set the course for how far the team can go, and Love’s work through any bumps at those spots will be key,” SI’s Albert Breer wrote.
The Packers will open their preseason on Saturday night against the New York Jets. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has already confirmed that his starters will play. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur also announced that his starters will see action—but based the decision on analytics.
“Packers starters will play in the preseason. Matt LaFleur said NFL data suggests playing a certain amount of reps in the preseason helps prevent injury during the first 4–5 weeks of the actual season. Idea is trading a little risk now for potential protection during real games,” The Packers Wire’s Zach Kruse posted.
While preseason excitement is building, Mother Nature may have other plans for Saturday night.
Looks like some possible risk of bad weather tonight in Green Bay. Hopefully can avoid any lightning, delays, suspensions, etc… pic.twitter.com/YO79sWmwFn

That weather forecast is already casting a shadow over Green Bay. Fans are hoping the storms pass, or at least won’t be as severe as predicted. Regardless, it could be a dark night at Lambeau—pitch black if the game gets canceled.
