The Detroit Lions' preseason Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons had a very scary moment after defensive back Morice Norris suffered an injury.
Norris got injured after his head snapped back while trying to make a tackle in the fourth quarter of the contest. Norris had to be loaded onto a stretcher and was removed from the field in an ambulance.
Thankfully, Norris avoided a catastrophic injury and is going to make his return to the field in due time. But when exactly will that happen?
Morice Norris injury update
According to head coach Dan Campbell on Aug. 11, Norris was discharged from the hospital after undergoing further evaluation. Norris is currently in the concussion protocol and will be reassessed after 10 to 14 days.
“It’s good to have him back. He’s good,” Campbell revealed. “So obviously he’s in concussion protocol. We’re going to take it nice and easy here, make sure he’s good over the next, call it 10-14 days, and reassess.”
If the Lions take the full 14 days, Norris could be cleared to return to practice by Aug. 25, which falls after the final preseason game on Aug. 23.
Norris is vying for a backup role in the Lions' safeties room. The Fresno St. product appeared in two games for Detroit in 2024 and played 32 of his 33 snaps on special teams.
