The Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons will square off in a preseason game on Friday and both teams have confirmed who will be playing quarterback for the contest.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris announced on Monday that neither Michael Penix Jr. nor Kirk Cousins will play against Detroit. Instead, Atlanta will play quarterbacks Easton Stick and Emory Jones.
"Neither Michael Penix Jr. or Kirk Cousins will play in the Atlanta Falcons' first preseason game against the Detroit Lions this Friday at Mercedes Benz Stadium," Tori McElhaney of AtlantaFalcons.com wrote.
Meanwhile, the Lions will not be deploying Jared Goff once again, as expected, and Hendon Hooker and Kyle Allen will play instead.
Head coach Dan Campbell revealed that Hooker will get the start for Detroit after Allen started the Hall of Fame Game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
"I see Hooker starting this first half against Atlanta, and then Kyle will take the back half," Campbell said.
The Lions will be looking for a better performance from both signal-callers, who are locked in a battle to be Goff's backup.
Allen tossed a pair of picks in the preseason opener, and Hooker didn't fare much better when he played in the second half.
