On Monday, the Houston Texans agreed to a deal with Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, making him the No. 2 back on the roster right behind Joe Mixon.

Chubb and Mixon both can take over the backfield, which could leave running back Dameon Pierce looking for a new home.

Pierce has spent three seasons in Houston, rushing for 1,648 yards and eight scores in 38 games.

If Pierce is moved, K.D. Drummond from Cowboys Wire thinks he could be a good fit with the Cowboys.

"Pierce, a 2022 fourth-round pick who totaled over 1,000 yards from scrimmage as a rookie, averaged 7.3 yards a carry in limited backup action in Houston in 2024," Drummond wrote."He had 40 carries, one of which was for a league-high 92 yard score last season. Even without that jaunt, Pierce averaged over 5.1 yards a carry on his other carries. The 25-year old had a disastrous second season where he averaged just 2.9 yards a carry in his first season of Bobby Slowik's offense, but bounced back in a decreased role. The Cowboys signed Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders in free agency, and drafted University of Texas back Jaydon Blue in the fifth round in April. None of those players should be seen as above reproach, as the Cowboys don't have a bell-cow approach to this season. Dallas might not be in a position to outright trade an asset, but a pick swap to acquire him should be considered, and they absolutely should kick the tires if Pierce hits the open market."

It wouldn't hurt for the Cowboys to sign Pierce if the Texans do cut him, but trading any draft capital for him would be a waste, as there is a chance Pierce might not even make the opening-day roster.
